Ensemble B is an advanced ensemble within the Cincinnati Jazz Academy, designed for students who are ready to refine their artistry and take on leadership roles in jazz performance. Students are placed into this ensemble by audition with the Artistic Director. This program challenges students with complex arrangements, advanced improvisation techniques, and a deeper exploration of jazz theory. Weekly rehearsals and private lessons provide the training necessary to excel as musicians and prepare for future opportunities in jazz.

Students in Ensemble B work closely with experienced instructors and guest artists, gaining mentorship from professional musicians. They are encouraged to develop their unique sound, refine their technical skills, and collaborate with peers in an inspiring, high-level musical environment. Instrument loans, transportation, and meals are provided, ensuring that all students can participate without barriers.

As part of this program, students perform at prestigious events, including the CPS International Jazz Festival and other community concerts. Ensemble B provides not only top-tier musical instruction but also the experience and confidence needed for college auditions, professional performances, and continued growth in jazz.
